What Fills Your Cup?

As mamas, we often spend a lot of time putting others needs before our own. We put our kids, husbands, friends, family, basically everyone before our selves. I think we hear it often, but you can not pour from an empty cup and that is why self-care is SO important.
Every one of us different and we all need different things to help fill our cups. For some of us, that is sitting on the couch alone in the morning drinking coffee and for others is leaving the kids at home and going out with friends. How ever you decide to fill your cup is okay, you just need to make sure you are putting aside the time for yourself even if that means saying no to others.

During this self-isolation, I know a lot of us are struggling and not just us moms. I don't think a lot of realized how much we rely on the community. Doing simple things like going to the store, getting our hair or nails done, or even just going a friends house is not doable at this time and that can really make us struggle.
One thing that has been imperative to my mental health the last few months has been nightly walks with my family. We have been cooped up in the house and all that fresh air and vitamin D has really helped me to feel like myself again. Its something so simple, yet so needed for me personally.
I have used this time at home with Austin to relax and recharge. Heres a list of some of my favorite things we have done:
- Family walks
- Baked cookies
- Tie-dyed onesies for River
- Organized rooms in the house
- Painted
- Refurbished an old changing table for Rivers room
- Organized Rivers clothes
- Planted a garden
- Had mini home Photoshoots with River
- Home work out
- Stayed in my Pjs, snuggled on the couch, and rewatched my favorite show
These are just some of the things I have done over this self Isolation/Stay at home order, but I want to remind you that this is about you and things you can do for your own health. You don't need to come out of this self-isolation 50 pounds lighter, with a spotless house, and 5 new hobbies. That is not what this is about. This is about filling your cup and doing things that make you happy. For me, Iove to be creative and I love to try new things, but I also like my house to be clean and sometimes I need to just sit and do nothing all day. Whatever that looks like for you is okay! Just make sure it is making you happy and if it is not, change things up a bit! You deserve it and so does your family!
So let us know! What fills your cup?
Xoxo, Macayla
